McArthur High School girls wrestling team does well in tournament

Members of the McArthur High School girls wrestling team did very well at a girls wrestling tournament hosted by McArthur recently.

Lydia Pierce earned a first place finish in the 182 pound weight category. “You have to have heart and determination to do well in wrestling. I have learned the importance of working hard in practice so I can become a better wrestler. It is important to be helpful and supportive of your teammates in wresting,” she said.

Pierce is a very successful student. A junior, she is a straight A student and takes advanced placement classes. She is a member of the McArthur swim team.

Miranda Kelton is also a successful McArthur wrestling. She finished in third place in the 184 weight category. She is doing well in her courses and loves to study world history. “It takes a lot of hard work and dedication to do well in wresting,” she said. “I like being  a part of the team.”

Lydia Pierce won first place in the girls 182 pound category. She is a junior taking advanced placement classes, and has earned all A’s in her courses. Also a member of the swim team, Lydia believes it takes hard work and determination to do well in wrestling.

Jessika Rosado finished in fourth place in the 140 pound category. She is a straight A student and wants to pursue a career in nursing. She also wants to be a duel enrolled student and take college and high school classes. “It takes hard work and dedication to be a successful wrestler,” said Rosado.

Abigail Avila earned second place in the 197 pound category. She enjoys being on the wrestling team and believes it takes hard work and effort to be successful.
