McArthur Robotics team is doing well

The McArthur Robotics Team, known as the Mighty Mechanical Mustangs, is doing well and the team is getting ready for its regular season.

The team recently participated in a pre-season competition and finished in the top 20. The Mustangs showed they could get a robot to pick up and place balls and discs in a game called Deep Space.

“I enjoyed participating in the competition and I love being a part of the team,” said Jasmara Fontanez, business captain. “I like working with robots. I am focusing on promoting the Mighty Mechanical Mustangs through social media. I am also seeking grants to fund our team,”

The robotics team is making a solid effort at fundraising. Team members sell ice cream at home football games.

Teyon Herring is the programing captain. He loves to work with various programs and likes being on the robotics team.

Robert Derrick, the advisor to the Mighty Mechanical Mustangs, is proud of the effort the team is making. During the regular season, the team will begin working on a robot that will participate in competitions.

They will design, build, and program a robot. Because the Mustangs have experience in building robotics, they will not just work with a kit. They will use their expertise to build a robot with the parts they want.

“We are not new to this. Our team members can obtain the parts they need to build a great robot,” said Derrick.
