Later this year, Memorial Healthcare System will open a 3,088-square-foot Urgent Care Center at Sheridan Street and 166th Avenue in West Pembroke Pines. A second Urgent Care Center is slated to open in 2018, in East Hollywood, at the intersection of Sheridan Street and US1.

“We want to provide our patients with the right level of care at the right time, and to accomplish this vision, we needed to diversify the access points of care so that patients get the attention they need,” Aurelio Fernandez, president and CEO of Memorial Healthcare System.

At the new Urgent Care Centers, adults and children will be able to receive treatment for minor illnesses and injuries. The Center will be staffed by physicians, offer online check-in and accept walk-ins. Services will include digital X-rays, EKGs, laboratory tests, vaccinations, physical exams and Workers’ Compensation injury exams. The centers will be open seven days a week from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

“Our desire in opening the Urgent Care Centers is to meet the medical or healthcare needs of our residents by giving them more options. The Center is just one more piece in our quest to provide greater access for all in response to increased consumer and health plan expectations of affordability and quality healthcare,” said Melida Akiti, vice president, ambulatory and community services for Memorial Healthcare System.
