February 11 (2-11) is the official National 2-1-1 Day in recognition of the free, confidential, easy to remember phone number that connects Broward County residents to essential community information and services such as crisis intervention, healthcare, rent and mortgage assistance, food and shelter, job training, transportation, childcare, senior care, veteran services and much more.
The mission of 2-1-1 Broward is to provide 24-hour comprehensive helpline and support services to individuals and families in our community seeking crisis intervention assistance and/or information and connections to health and human services in Broward County.
Every call to 2-1-1 is answered by a trained, degreed counselor who listens to the caller’s concerns, identifies their needs and connects them with agencies and programs that can help them. 2-1-1 Broward relies on the generous support of government agencies, corporations, foundations, and individuals to provide this vital community service.
Captain 2-1-1, will be visiting local establishments in Broward County to spread the awareness of 2-1-1 Broward’s services and meet with families and friends of 2-1-1 Broward.
In honor of National 2-1-1 Day, several local businesses that Captain 2-1-1 will be visiting will offer special promotions including the following:
o 2-1-1 Broward will be hosting a FREE Provider Workshop for organizations that assist families with moderate to low income.
This free workshop will provide ways to link them to the income supports and services that they need.
o Grille 401 will be offering a special Captain 2-1-1 Burger topped with mushrooms, bacon and cheddar with a side of fries for $2.11, from 11:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. only.
o Timpano Italian Chophouse will be offering a Meatball Slider for $2.11, from 11:30 – 4:00 p.m.
o Hoffman’s Chocolates on Las Olas will offer a three-piece box of Valentine’s decorated chocolate Oreo’s (milk, dark and white chocolate) for $2.11, valid from 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
o Sit In My Seats VIP Tickets, Travel and Concierge Services will donate $211 to 2-1-1 Broward, for all travel packages booked on February 11th (minimum purchase of $1000).
o Wild Sea and Oyster Bar at Riverside Hotel will offer the Ultimate Foodie Lunch Package for $211, including a mixology session, a three-course meal with the Chef, a complimentary bottle of champagne and more! The two hour package time will be from 3:00 pm – 5:00 pm, one per day. Must be purchased package on February 11th.
2-1-1 Broward is also offering the public a chance to win a prize and be featured in its upcoming newsletter. All they have to do is take a photo with Captain 2-1-1 at one of his stops and upload it to their social media using hashtags #National211Day or #Captain211. There will be a separate contest for those that take a selfie of them with the downloadable the Captain 2-1-1 photo which can be found on the Facebook page.
Captain 2-1-1 will begin his route at Winterfest offices at 9:00 a.m. and will visit participating Broward buinesses throughout the day. He will end at the Walk Like MADD LaCroix Mocktail Kick-Off Party at ArtServe (1350 E. Sunrise Blvd., Fort Lauderdale) at 6:00 p.m. There will be a $25 admission fee at the door for the Kick-Off Party.
