Topeekeegee Yugnee Park (TY Park), which means, “meeting or gathering place”, has many friends and wants to make more friends! So everyone is invited to join the newly formed, “Friends of TY Park” at their inaugural event — a kick-off membership drive — on December 3rd. The party will include a ribbon cutting by all members, a free BBQ lunch for first 200 members and 4 guests, boat rides, games, live music, and giveaways for members.
The Friends of TY Park was created to promote the park as an important community resource for cultural and youth programs, health and fitness, and to support environmental sustainability and social gatherings. Recently, hurricane Irma dramatically diminished the tree/shade canopy, which will need help from all of us. TY Park is the first regional park in Broward County to establish a Friends group.
“Many have asked, ‘Why do we need a “Friends” group?’ said co-president Senator Eleanor Sobel. ” We believe in the benefits of Topeekeegee Yugnee Park — the park we love. Many have expressed making TY Park more than it is now, with the introduction of innovative environmental programs and cultural events. And the Park will be much more with your help! Progress takes time, money and commitments.”
The kick-off will be held rain or shine December 3 from noon-2:30 p.m. at Pavilion 12. TY Park is located at 3300 North Park Road Hollywood, Florida 33021.
Hon. Max Osceola, leader of the Seminole Tribe and Zeff Ross, CEO of Memorial Regional Hospital, will be honored at the event. For more information, email friends@friendsoftypark.org
