Hollywood seniors are enjoying new ping pong tables at the Fred Lippman Center located adjacent to the Downtown arts and entertainment district. “I had my hip replaced but I still love to come here and play. It’s a nice social activity,” said Jeff Kellet, one of many Hollywood seniors who regularly comes out to play.
Many players, like Elana Tovstokhatko and Bin Chu, are more experienced and regularly participate but all skill levels are welcome.
The program was initiated by Hollywood Beach resident Itzhack Feldman, candidate for District 1 Commissioner. “I wanted to have a nice activity for seniors so I worked to create this program in Hollywood. We have a lot of people who enjoy playing ping pong,” added Feldman.
Fred Lippman Center is located located at 2030 Polk St, Hollywood, Florida 33020 and is home of the Elder Grant Program, which offers local seniors a chance to attend regular free field trips. Other recreational programs at the Lippman center include bridge lessons, zumba, quilting and sculpture.
Open ping pong is free to all senior residents Tuesdays from noon-9 p.m., Thursdays and Sundays from noon -4 p.m. For more information, call (954) 921-3408.
