The fishing part of the tournament will be held on Friday, May 15.  The event will begin with the Captain’s Meeting and a Kick-off Party on Thursday, May 14, and will conclude with an Awards Banquet on Friday evening.  All skill levels and ages are welcome.

“We are very excited to host the 10th annual Nova Southeastern Scholarship Fishing Tournament,” said Halmos Dean Richard E. Dodge, PhD.  “In the past, we have raised over $400,000 for the endowment that allows the NSU Fishing Tournament Scholarship, which has supported 10 Master’s and PhD students at the college. Through their research on topics including the modeling of lionfish that have invaded our waters, the exploration of our coral reef habitats, and the genetic conservation of sharks, these student scholarship winners continue to help us understand our environment, so that we can help protect, understand, and preserve the underwater world for the next generation.”

The Nova Southeastern Fishing Tournament Scholarship is a not-for-profit, competitive scholarship awarded to high-achieving graduate students at Halmos.  All recipients are engaged in active research related to marine organisms, ecosystems, health, and conservation. All proceeds from the Tournament are put towards the Scholarship Fund.
