Pre-K – Second Grade Students to Receive 240,000 Books for At-Home Learning from BCPS

Thousands of Broward County Public Schools students will soon be receiving book packages.

This is part of the District’s effort to ensure that the younger students continue learning. Broward Schools are providing about 48,000 book packages for a total of about 240,000 books for children in grades pre-K through second grade from Title I schools.

“I’m happy to announce our District is sending a set of ‘Open the World of Possible’ books for our youngest learners,” said Broward Schools Superintendent Robert Runcie. “Each of the students will receive five age and grade level appropriate books to read and enjoy at home. Research shows access to and interactions with physical books at home as a direct impact on reading achievement.”

Also, students will receive a journal and family guide to share with their parents, which includes tips and strategies for supporting their child’s reading. Students will begin receiving their books in the mail beginning at the end of May.
