Reception honors young artists' expressive voices

Rowe is a student at the Hollywood Academy of Arts & Science. She was among a group of students who were recognized for their drawings and art work at “Young Artists: Expressing Their Artistic Voice” a reception at the ArtsPark Gallery. The reception featured the work of middle school age students.

“I love drawing and art,” she said. Rowe produced a drawing known as “Radon Can Cause Lung Cancer” which received national and state recognition and was on display at the event.

Mishel Almaleh, also received recognition for a drawing on the effects of radon. “I created a picture of a creepy smile showing the effects of radon on people,” she said. “I love to draw pictures.”

pleased to display the work of many students who are working to achieve their potential as artists. “The students put on this event and worked hard to make it happen. They are producing a very high level of art work,” she said.


The reception, a fun and festive atmosphere, included musical performances by Grammy musicians Federico Britos and Tommy McWilliams. A number of Hollywood musicians including the school’s science teacher Brenton Williams also performed. Artist Daniel Pontet produced some art work using his feet. Hollywood Mayor Josh Levy attended the event and praise the work of the young artists.
