McArthur High School may soon undergo major renovations.
On June 11th, the School Board will meet and present a plan to demolish buildings 6, 7, and 8 on the school campus. In their place, plans have emerged to build an 18-classroom building or a 20-classroom building.
Major renovations to the surrounding area and buildings, including structural and ventilation repairs, will also ensue. According to Frank Girardi, Executive Director of Capital Programs for Broward County Schools, the estimated cost of this project is $30 million.
An earlier plan sought the demolition of only building 6. However, it was determined that this initial plan would cost more than the demolition of all three buildings and the construction of the new building.
