This
past Tuesday, I had the pleasure of mingling with the Hollywood Florida Art Meetup
crew at the Doris White Gallery (120 S. 20th Avenue—downtown
Hollywood).
I
was pleasantly surprised to find such an eclectic group of artists and
aficionados—all gathered, getting to know one another, sharing ideas and
schmoozing.
If
you don’t already know, Meetup is a virtual aggregate that spawns local groups
(artists, chefs, polo players—you name it). They’re over 28,000,000 strong with
groups spread out over 179 countries.
The
Hollywood Florida Art Meetup group (headed by Carlos Alvarez Cotera) has 153
members and is growing daily. They meet on the last Tuesday of every month at
the aforementioned Doris White Gallery at 6pm (next meeting November 29th).
I
highly recommend you put your toe in the water—nothing ventured, nothing
gained. You’re bound to meet new people and kindred spirits—it’s an engaging
way to spend an evening with refreshments and munchies in a very chill gallery environment.
