Sheridan Technical Center will open an online high school next year. A ninth grade class will enter in the fall and a grade will be added each year. Sheridan Technical School is based in Hollywood but the online students will attend classes in Fort Lauderdale.
The high school will be part of the Sheridan Technical Center. The high school students will receive instruction via the Internet but will be supervised by certified teachers. During the first year, students will take Algebra I or a higher math, computing for college and a course in life management skills, according to Bob Beogli, principal of Sheridan Technical Center.
Then the students will take courses on vocational areas such as automotive technology, culinary arts, court reporting, accounting and many other fields. Initially the students will go to the Sheridan Technical Center to take vocational courses, but eventually they courses will be brought to them. Cars will be brought to the high school campus for students in automotive technology. The first classes for the online high school will begin in the fall, according to Beogli.
