The South Broward High School girls soccer team may have struggled a bit in the beginning but they improved and finished with a successful 9-4-3 season. Coach Boomer Bray said the team did far better than it had in previous years.
“The girls worked hard and bought into the system. To be good in soccer you need commitment and dedication,” he commented.
Bray is particularly proud of a game against St. Thomas, possibly the best girls’ high school soccer team in the nation, when the team played a good, competitive game. For a time, the Bulldogs actually were leading St. Thomas 1-0.
Top players on the team included Barbara Fernandez, who scored 20 goals, and Emilia Hernandez, a goalie who recorded five shutouts.
