Joy Sanchez brought her son and two daughters to the Spring Marshmallow Drop at the Boulevard Heights Community Center. Her children enjoyed hunting for Easter eggs and spending time at the event.
“I love it! My children really enjoyed hunting Easter Eggs,” said Sanchez.
The Marshmallow Drop on April 13, 2019 included arts and crafts, bounce houses, free popcorn, and a DJ. Children could visit the Easter Bunny and go on an Easter egg hunt. There was even a Little Peeps Pageant and a costume contest for young children.

“We had a good time today. We gave away 1,000 bags of free popcorn and ran the Little Peeps Pageant. This was good for the community,” said Stacy Mahar, president of the Greater Hollywood JAYCEES.

Alongside the festivities, the Spring Marshmallow Drop hosted an open house featuring civic associations and community service providers.
Commissioner Kevin Biederman stated, “This is a good community event. It brought civic organizations together. It is good to see people getting together to have a good time.”

Late in the afternoon, a helicopter flew over the event, releasing about 30,000 marshmallows onto a field. Children ran through the grass to collect marshmallows that they could trade in for prizes.

Commissioner Caryl Shuham enjoyed the event. “I think this a nice spring event. It is great to see the community coming together,” said Shuham.
