Still a Kid with a Camera

Photographer
Laurence Levin arrived in Hollywood in 1977 and he lived here for the following
two years before moving into the house he’d built in Pembroke Pines.

And
while Larry has been taking photos since his youth and even sold some to Sports
Illustrated magazine in his late teens—and despite never putting the lens cap
back on (as it were), it, nonetheless, took Larry until 2011 to fully commit to
the passion that defines him as an artist.

“In
2011, tired of the daily grind, I threw myself into my art. I enrolled at McFatter
College in Davie and studied under master lensman Tom Collins (a pretty stiff
drink as well, this scribe noted).

“Two
and a half years ago I joined Studio 18 in Pembroke. I found an eclectic and
exotic mix of mediums represented—from sculptors to designers—photographers to
painters—essentially all artistic disciplines were included.”

Larry
envisions an “Art Corridor” as Hollywood and Pembroke Pines are sandwiched
between Fort Lauderdale and Miami.

“With
the Hollywood art scene surging and with Pembroke emerging, we have a very real
opportunity to bridge the existing art markets from Lauderdale and Miami.”

Laurence will be exhibiting his
works at Art & Sol Studios (313 Northwest 25th Street, Miami) on
Monday, November 14th from 7pm-10pm. The show runs through November
25th
