Textile Recycling Program comes to Hollywood

The Hollywood Commission has passed an ordinance establishing a textile recycling collection bin program, allowing citizens to deposit such items as shoes, clothing, linens and draperies at designated bins throughout the city.  The bins will be located on both public and private property and the plan is to implement it through a franchise agreement, similar to a program that has been executed by the Town of Davie.

Collection of textiles for recycling by a stationary truck, wagon, trailer or similar vehicle will be prohibited, except as authorized by a franchise agreement.  A second discussion of the project  will include an RFP in search of an entity to take on management of the program.
