Three Talented Teens Triumph in Talented 10th Poetry Slam for African American History Month

Three talented Hollywood teens were the winners of new electronic tablets for their entries into the Talented 10th Poetry Slam, held in celebration of African American History Month.  The event was held at Hollywood City Hall on Thursday, February 22.  The high school students were encouraged to write their poems based on the topic of “African Americans In Wartime.”

The Poetry Slam was hosted by the City of Hollywood African American Advisory Council.

The winners, students Laverta Pascal-Spain of South Broward High School and Hollywood Hills students Laudz Fenelus and Jadon Polydore, all have been awarded tablets compliments of the AT&T Pioneers.  The AT&T Pioneers is a volunteer network of active and retired AT&T employees dedicated to improving the quality of life in local communities.

Pascal-Spain, Fenelus and Polydore were among 6 contestants, ages 14-18, to compete in the poetry/spoken word Open Mic Night.  Pascal-Spain, the first place winner, received an iPad Mini from the AT&T Pioneers.  They awarded second place winner Fenelus with a Samsung tablet and third place winner Polydore with a FIRE HD tablet.
