If you’re between the ages of 55 and 88, the Snappy Seniors Fun Follies want you! Fun Follies are looking for dancers, singers, musicians, comedians, artists and poets.

Whether you’ve been in show business for years and now returning to your first love, or you’ve always dreamed about being on stage but never made it, now’s the time to show ‘em what you’ve got.

“Every one has a talent and we encourage them to use it,” says Edina McGrath,  director, producer, choreographer, costume designer and casting director for the Fun Follies shows. “Our motto is – we don’t retire, we refire!”

The Snappy Seniors Fun Follies are a group of seniors who love life and want to share and bring joy to others.  “We all volunteer our time and our talents,” says Edina, “which helps to make it possible for many families, children, teens and seniors to enjoy the activities at the YMCA that they could not enjoy otherwise.”

Most members of the group are from Hollywood, Pembroke Pines, Hallandale, Dania and Ft. Lauderdale and all are members of the Greater Hollywood YMCA Silver Sneakers program designed for active older adults.

Edina joined the Silver Sneakers of the YMCA after she retired as a Cruise Director of 25 years for Carnival Cruise Lines.

“I danced with the Gwen Mahler Dancers, Dancing Mothers of Miami, Miami Rockets, Rene Godin Dancers and Ziegfield,” recalls McGrath.  And now, at the vibrant age of 88, she puts all of her time into volunteering for the show.

The theme of this year’s show is ‘America The Beautiful / the Good Old USA’ intended to “stir our hearts and remind us that we live in the greatest country in the world,” said Edina. “I trust in my Lord to put in my heart the theme for each show.”  This is the fifth year the show is produced.

Anyone from ages 55-88 can audition.  As casting director, Edina will spend time with you, listen to you and let you share about yourself and your talent – so no excuses! It’s time to take the stage.

Rehearsals are every Monday and Wednesday at 11:45 a.m., with some Tuesday night rehearsals, in Studio West at the YMCA in Hollywood. The cast usually runs between 25 – 30 people and the show attracts approximately 300 to 400 people.

This year’s show date is set for May 22 at the Greater Hollywood YMCA.
