Traffic, Permits Among Constituents’ Concerns Voiced at ‘Commission in the Community’

On January 26, city residents and commissioners got together at ‘Commission in the Community’, an informal gathering held at the Washington Park Community Center.  Throughout the evening, members of the Hollywood Commission were available to speak first casually and then more officially with local residents about topics of concern for people in the city.  Anyone who wanted to address members of the Commission had the opportunity to do so.

Concerns about traffic were among the most discussed. Several residents complained about traffic problems on Taft Street and others about traffic  throughout Hollywood. Some raised questions about the City of Hollywood’s four-day work week. There were concerns about access to city officials and difficulties in gaining permits. Some expressed issues with the Post Office and even with mail being stolen.

It was an opportunity for people to speak with commissioners in a comfortable setting during the evening.  And it was a chance to participate in a social event with neighbors. Many of the people who spoke are leaders in neighborhood associations and are community activists.
