The City of Hollywood is hoping that two major developments in the downtown area will lead to a major resurgence in the area.

Hollywood Circle will feature an upscale 25 story mixed-use development on Young Circle. It will be designed to appeal to a diverse group residents and visitors. It will include 397 upscale rental apartments designed for people who want to live in an exciting urban environment. The Circ will be a uniquely branded 104-room boutique hotel that will be part of Trust Hospitality’s Desires Hotels@ collection. There will be a 46,000 square-foot Publix Supermarket and about 15,000 square feet of additional retail space on the ground floor for shops, restaurants and other businesses.

Hollywood Circle will be in a position to meet the need for new, high quality residences and business space in Hollywood’s downtown district and is expected to attract people to the new urban center.

Recently an older apartment building was demolished to make room for Hollywood Circle.

Young Circle Commons will feature 229 apartment units and 25,000 square feet of retail space.

“We are part of a program to rebuild Hollywood’s downtown. We have removed blight from the downtown area and knocked down old buildings,” said Chip Abele, the developer of the two projects. “This will make a positive contribution to the Arts Park. This is a major development for Hollywood and bring about 400 families to the area.”

Jorge Camejo, executive director for the Hollywood Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) said he believes the two projects will be a major improvement for the downtown Hollywood area. “This will boost the tax base for Hollywood. This project is good for the City,” said Camejo.

Hollywood City Manager Cathy Swanson-Rivenbark said she believes the projects will be a major improvement for downtown Hollywood and will attract businesses and people to the area.
