TikTok users can relate to the frustration of accidentally losing an exciting video on the app. Have you ever wondered how to access your watch history and find your way back to a video? Thankfully, a solution exists!

How to See Your Watch History in TikTok on the iPhone App
Unlike other social apps, TikTok doesn’t feature a dedicated “Watch History” button. However, you can still access your history by requesting your data file from TikTok. This file contains various information about your TikTok account, such as bio, comment history, followers list, login history, likes list, settings, and most importantly, a list of videos you’ve watched, known as the “Video Browsing History” list.
Here’s how to request your TikTok data file to view your watch history:
- Launch the TikTok app and navigate to your profile.
- Tap the three lines at the top-right corner, and then select Privacy.
- Choose Personalization and data.
- Opt for Download your data.
- Tap the Request data button at the bottom.
- You will receive a confirmation of your data request. Click on the Download data tab to track the status of your request. Currently, it shows “Pending,” indicating that TikTok is processing your request, which typically takes about 24 hours.
- Click on Download once the file is ready. Your browser will open for the download.
- Verification might be required when logging in to your TikTok account.
- In the confirmation popup, click on Download.
- Your file will be downloaded in a zipped format via your default file manager. If you can’t access it on your iPhone due to the lack of a zip app, transfer it to a computer for opening.
- After unzipping the file, locate the .txt file named Video Browsing History.
- The file consists of timestamps and links to every video. Copy/paste the links into your browser to watch the videos.
Note: Your TikTok data file remains accessible for up to four days. If it’s been over four days, you’ll need to request a new file.

More FAQs
How can I find a video I commented on?
Unfortunately, TikTok doesn’t offer an activity feature similar to Facebook, making it challenging to revisit a previously commented video directly. Nonetheless, there are alternative methods to locate the video you commented on.
When you comment on a TikTok video, other users might interact with it by liking or responding to your comment. Luckily, when this happens, you’ll receive a notification. By tapping on the message icon at the app’s bottom, you can access the video quickly.
If you haven’t received any notifications, there isn’t a direct way to revisit that specific video. In this case, you’ll need to leverage the Discover feature to search for it, visit the uploader’s profile, or refer to the instructions mentioned earlier to navigate through your watch history.
Why isn’t my watch history visible?
Your watch history may not be displaying due to internet connection problems or temporary TikTok server issues. Unfortunately, determining the exact cause can be challenging.
